“Retirement calculators” are programs that can help people decide when to retire and anticipate what financial resources they might have available—or would like to have available—upon retirement.  They can be useful to people nearing retirement and to people for whom retirement seems a long ways down the road—and to everyone in between!

Typically, a retirement calculator asks you to consider the age at which you’d like to retire, your current age, the annual income you’d like to have, the number of years you’d expect to draw upon your retirement resources, the years that lie between now and when you’d like to retire, and so on.  A typical calculator would ask you to consider the status of your pension now and what it would be at the time of your retirement; to consider your current balances in savings accounts, IRAs, annuities, and any savings plans with your employer that you may have; and to consider how you might increase those balances between now and your retirement.

This workshop will be conducted by Bob Petersen and Roger Carlstrom.  They will introduce participants to some online retirement calculators, and Bob will show how a retirement calculator can be created in Microsoft Excel.

If you're planning to retire or are a baby boomer thinking of the future, plan to come to this workshop!
